For projects of all sizes, there are always liability concerns to be mitigated. An insurance policy of some kind should exist for all parties working on a project, but to review every letter of each policy would be a full-time job in itself, and doing so leaves ample opportunity for missing essential details. Your best chance at achieving risk mitigation and massively reducing liabilities is to carefully document, track, and manage valid certificates of insurance (COIs). And it's more than getting a copy and throwing it in to a file!
Everyone wants clarity on COIs, but they are relatively complex. Whoever checks for compliance should have working knowledge of the following:
- Contract Requirements
- ACORD Forms and Standards
- Insurance Policies
- Endorsement Language
- Workers Compensation Regulations
But who has time for all of that with all the other responsibilities of your job?
This training will help get you there!
We will look at some insurance coverage issues specific to the design industry and insurance endorsements that may help reduce or transfer your liability. You will also learn and understand the components of a Certificate of Insurance (COI) and how to read one quickly and accurately.
By the end of the training you will leave with tools to feel confident in establishing a repeatable tracking process to ensure COI compliance with your contracts.
