Congratulations to Nikki Pierce, CDFA, LEED AP + BD, as she takes on a new role as Knowledge Manager for Clark Nexsen. In addition to her current role, she will be curating the content of their firm and managing the platform for sharing the knowledge and facilitating it throughout the firm.

A lot of knowledge in the A/E/C industry exists in the minds of our professionals. Just over a decade ago, this knowledge was transferred in written form to physical objects like books, reports, technical papers, and letters. Slowly, over the years, our shelves have emptied, and file cabinets have been disposed of. as that knowledge has been captured in digital form stored on networks, in the cloud or on the internet. Knowledge that was printed on paper and copied or faxed is now emailed, shared electronically, or posted in a location where many can easily access it. When it’s stored in multiple locations, the information might not be consistent, out of date, or plain wrong. By maintaining information in a primary source, accurate intel is relatively easy to convey and use. Consequently, the amount information we routinely use has become larger in magnitude than it was just a few years ago. Nikki’s new role will be to lead the curation and management of this information.

“Nikki knows Clark Nexsen, having been with us since the paper and fax days,” said Bill Keen, Chief Innovation Officer at Clark Nexsen. “And her experience working at the national level with the Society for Design Administration helped her to be prepared to succeed in this role.”

In the role of Knowledge Manager, Nikki will initially be focused on these areas including managing their digital subscriptions for codes and technical documents, curating content and managing the platform and organizing content in that system. In each of these areas, she’ll be an active advocate for knowledge sharing by encouraging individuals to share their knowledge and seek the knowledge of others using our sharing platforms.
