An organized approach can help you achieve your goals along with those of your client. Risk can vary in its degree and its impact on a project. To effectively mitigate risk is to avoid the potential consequences of project failure. This session provides a step-by-step process for analyzing and mitigating project risk.
PRESENTERS: Brian Baumgardner and Patty Huntley
Brian Baumgardner is an Associate Client Executive with Oswald Companies and is in the Cincinnati, Ohio branch office. He works in Business Development and Client Management focusing on Architects and Engineers, Commercial Contractors, Developers and Real Estate Firms. He consults on and promotes innovative risk management and insurance solutions. Brian has over 13 years of extensive experience in Commercial Property & Casualty and Professional Liability Insurance. At Oswald, his strategic focus lies on identifying, analyzing, and managing business risk through integrated solutions for his clients by providing in-house education programs, contract review services, loss prevention consultation including project risk management and risk transfer to clients.
Brian is a graduate of the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Science in Sports & Business Administration. He is affiliated with the following organizations and has the following designations:

Patricia M. Huntley (Patty) has had a 35-year career in the Architectural and Engineering (A/E) design and construction industry as part of a 40-year technical career. In June 2016, Patty joined AXA XL’s Design Professional Loss Prevention and Client Education team as a Risk Manager. She provides A/E project and practice management education and support to XL Catlin’s insured Design Professionals, brokers and agents.
For the previous 14 years, twelve in collaboration with PSMJ Resources, Inc (PSMJ), Patty was an A/E project delivery and practice management consultant. As a program leader for PSMJ’s “Project Management Bootcamp” she trained thousands of A/E principals, project managers and their firms on best practices and the tools to complete projects successfully. She also worked individually with numerous A/E firms to subsequently improve their project delivery processes, reduce project write-offs, and increase project profitability.
Patty began her A/E career in 1989 with The RETEC Group, Inc., (now AECOM) an environmental engineering/consulting firm, where she was recognized for her ability to execute multiple, fast-track, design/build projects, with annual fees that ranged from $1 to $15MM.
She is certified by the Project Management Institute as a Project Management Professional (PMP). Patty has a Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado State University (CSU) and also completed her Masters of Science graduate course work and research at CSU. Additionally, she holds an MBA from the University of Denver, Daniels College of Business.
