Submit Your Presentation Proposal for EDSymposium24

EDSymposium is the national conference held to further the educational opportunities for SDA’s membership and other practice managers in the A|E|C community. Knowledgeable and eloquent individuals willing to share their expertise and real-world experiences are invited to submit presentation proposals for EDSymposium20. Educational seminars will be presented in the following areas:

• Finance
• Human Resources
• Leadership
• Office Administration/Information Technology
• Marketing
• Project Management

 

This three-day event provides a self-directed, facilitated learning environment in which these topics and other professional challenges facing design firm administrators, managers and principals in the A|E|C industry can be explored in educational sessions, informal discussions and networking opportunities. Those chosen to speak will be selected because of their ability to inspire, challenge and support the success of the careers and lives of those in attendance. 

 

SDA is seeking innovative applications and solutions to the issues which face design administrators, managers and principals working in a multi-disciplinary, client-centered service profession. Qualified speakers with knowledge relevant to advanced topics are invited to submit their qualifications.

 

Continuing Education Philosophy.  We believe learning is ongoing and not simply the transfer of information from a presenter to a learner. We are actively seeking speakers who possess the following qualities:

• Command of Subject Matter. Speakers will be chosen based on demonstrated expertise in our core Professional Emphasis Group areas.
• Be a Memorable Presenter. Being an expert in the subject is essential, however, speakers should enjoy teaching and be willing and able to create a memorable learning experience for our attendees.
• Effective Interpersonal Skills. Knowing how to reach and react to your audience is a key element of good communication. Presenters should be concerned with what the audience is learning and respond accordingly.

 

We believe that effective learning comes when our participants are truly engaged in the presentation. In your proposal, be sure to share how you will engage our audience (think interactive presentations and audience participation). Attendees are looking for ideas, skills and techniques to take back and immediately put into practice in their firms. Consider handouts, templates, samples and guidance.
