 ExCom 2021-22: Penny Nelson, CDFA National President-Elect
Penny Nelson, CDFA was elected and installed to serve as SDA President-Elect at the 2021 SDA Annual Business Meeting. Nelson, who previously held the National Treasurer position in 2020, is a member of the Orange County Chapter of SDA. She has held a plethora of positions on the board.
“My vision is to expand the reach of SDA into every A/E/C firm,” Nelson said. “Although that reach may not include additional new members initially, my vision is that every firm will know of SDA and understand what resources and expertise SDA brings to the A/E/C industry.”
Nelson is the Chief Financial Officer of Douglas Pancake Architects, Inc. in Irvine, California. Captain Nelson is also SDA’s resident boating connoisseur! You can catch her spending her weekends on her boat, Little Geiger, with her family.

ExCom 2021-22: Kim Celenza, SDA, SDA National Vice President
Kim Celenza was re-elected and installed to serve as SDA Vice President at the 2021 SDA Annual Business Meeting. Celenza, who held the Vice Presidency in 2020, is a member of the New York Chapter of SDA. She was the board’s President from 2018-2020 and is the current Past President/Director for the chapter.
“As Vice President, the focus is on membership and after a year of being Vice President and Membership Chair, I have a much better understanding of everything on a national level,” Celenza said. “This year our focus has really been on connecting with our new members, and retention of current members.”
Celenza is the Marketing Manager for Perkins Eastman in New York, New York.
Celenza is also a foodie who likes to stir things up in the kitchen! Inspired by her grandmother as a child, she uses cooking as a way to de-stress. Click here to learn more of her culinary adventures and to grab a favorite recipes she was willing to share.

ExCom 2021-22: Karen Roman, FSDA, SDA National Immediate Past President
Karen Roman, FSDA was honored as outgoing SDA National President at the 2021 SDA Annual Business Meeting. The annual meeting was held via teleconference on June 12, 2021 following the two-day virtual EdSymposium. Roman will continue to serve on the SDA Executive Committee as Immediate Past President.

Roman is a member of the Denver Chapter of SDA and has served on the board nine times. Nationally, she has served as SDA National President three times and has been a fellow since 2018. Roman is the Business Manager at Intergroup, Inc. in Littleton, Colorado. She has been with the firm since 1991.

ExCom 2021-22: Anne McNeely, CDFA, SDA National Treasurer
Anne McNeely, CDFA was elected and installed to serve as SDA National Treasurer at the 2021 SDA Annual Business Meeting. McNeely, who previously held the National Secretary position in 2020, is a member of the Denver Chapter of SDA. She had served on the board in a multitude of capacities.
“As National Treasurer, my focus will continue to be the strengthening of SDA from the inside out,” McNeely said. “Member outreach and mentorship helps ensure that our members receive the most value out of their membership.”
McNeely is the Project Administration Manager / Contract Administrator for Fentress Architects, Ltd., in Denver, Colorado.
She is also a published author! Her book, Meaningful Omissions, was published in 2017. Click here to learn more about her creative process.

 ExCom 2021-22: Gretchen Renz, CDFA, SDA National Secretary
Gretchen Renz, CDFA was elected and installed to serve as SDA National Secretary at the 2021 SDA Annual Business Meeting. Renz is a member of the Seattle Chapter of SDA. She had served on the board as Director, Secretary, Treasurer and Jobline Chair.
Nationally, Renz has sat on the Bylaws Committee.
“I want to see SDA stay the same as it relates to friendships and support and continue to innovate in our methods of presenting education, mentorship, and staying relevant to younger members,” said Renz.
During her term, Renz aims to focus on public appreciation and recognition of SDA and the possibility of a structured mentorship program. She is the Business Manager for Bernardo | Wills Architects in Spokane, Washington.
